A Cinderella Story.
The Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham
The
Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham brings together women's
resources and women's needs, and targets funding through grants
to community organizations that support critical programs
for women and girls.
When
they came to PHP, they were in the process of completing and
sending out a Needs Assessment Study — an overview of
the social and economic status of women and girls in our area.
Our mission was twofold: one, create a direct mail piece that
would let people know the Needs Assessment Study would be
coming and also to create awareness of the surprising statistics
they'd found, in hopes of generating support.
But
we also knew that statistics weren't just numbers on paper.
These were real women and real girls. So in addition to the
direct mail pieces, we created a public service announcement
to run on television, focusing on the statistics and encouraging
people to call and become involved.
Results:
Within weeks of the first mailing, The Women's Fund had raised
thousands of dollars. Because of this success, PHP Communications
has continued to design print for the annual fund. The television
spot also successfully raised awareness of The Women's Fund.
